My overarching research goal is to advance our understanding of how estuarine and glacier systems interact with the coastal ocean. I care deeply about conserving our oceans and communicating science in a way that connects people with pertinent issues in our changing climate.
My research focuses on understanding the interaction between the ocean and tidewater glaciers in Greenland fjords. These fjords act as deep, highly-stratified estuaries, where meltwater from the ice sheet mixes with the coastal ocean. Ultimately, understanding how the ocean controls ice loss from ice sheets is critical for predicting global sea level rise.
